Cuttack: Following the torching of a police jeep, the authorities on Monday clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC was clamped at Narendrapur under Nemala police limits in Cuttack district.
Two platoons of police force have been deployed at the spot to prevent further escalation of tension in the area.
According to available information, two youths got into a heated argument on the issue of overtaking on the road. One of them called some of his associates from Kakudiapada village. Later, they barged into the other youth’s house and attacked him. A woman and a minor boy were also injured in the attack.
Moments later, the locals accompanied by a few members of Bajrang Dal staged a road blockade near the minority community slum Kakudiapada village by burning tyres.
On receiving information, a police team rushed to the spot to pacify the agitators. However, a group of people torched a police vehicle.
