Mumbai: Former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has submitted a pen drive containing 125 hours of video ‘proof’ to state Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal.
Fadnavis, who is leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra assembly, has been accusing Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government of hatching conspiracies to target political opponents and misusing the police.
He said the pen drive contained 125 hours of proof showing how the state and police officials was framing BJP leaders, including himself, in false cases.
BJP’s national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala shared parts of the video on social media.
Referring to one of the videos, featuring Special Public Prosecutor Pravin Pandit Chavan, Poonawala wrote: “This man’s office has become the hub for framing conspiracies against Opposition leaders.”
Poonawala claimed that that video footage showed Chavan talking about meetings held at highest levels to frame BJP leader Girish Mahajan under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and arrest him.
He claimed in another video proof of how Girish Mahajan was framed.
“From planting a knife to applying blood to the neck… to how to conduct a raid on Girish Mahajan and how to plant evidence and ensure that MCOCA is planted… entire conspiracy hatched by Chavan. Subsequently, even police and some ministers were a part of this conspiracy,” Poonawala stated.
Fadnavis demanded a CBI probe into the matter.
“You are crying hoarse about the Central agencies without proof. But I have given you proof. The venue of crime in the Girish Mahajan case is Pune, but after three years, the police registered a case in Muktainagar,” Fadnavis said.
