Bhubaneswar: For the first time, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) is going to introduce a continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) system for Class IX and X students from this year.

Briefing the media here on Saturday, secretary, School and Mass Education, Satyabrata Sahu said the School and Mass Education department will conduct four formative assessments and two summative assessments for Class IX and X this year under the CCE which has been prepared as per CBSE pattern.

The formative assessments will be done in the second week of September, the first week of November, the second week of January and the second week of March.

“The formative and summative assessments will be conducted by the BSE which will will prepare the question papers and send those to the districts. The assessments will be supervised by the class teachers and the school teachers at the school level. The School and Mass Education Department will issue a standard operating procedure for the conduct of these assessments which will be uploaded on the BSE official website (www.bseodisha.nic.in ) soon,” Sahu said.

Keeping this in view, Sahu requested the students and the guardians to take these examinations seriously. “The examinations will be helpful for the Class X students, who will be awarded the final marks in the annual Board examination as per these assessments, if the COVID-19 situation arises in the state again,” he pointed out.

On the announcement of the Matric offline examination results, he said the Board is trying to publish those by August 22.

He further said the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) is also planning to introduce the CCE for the Plus II students. As the teachers are now busy in the evaluation of the Plus II annual examination papers, the Council will issue an SOP after the results are declared.

Sahu also said unlike previous years, the projects and practicals of Class IX, X and XII will be completed in the early part of the academic session for proper assessment.

Stating that the CHSE is trying to announce the annual Plus II results by July 31, he said the council will conduct the improvement (offline) examination within a month of the announcement of the annual results. The students, who are not satisfied with the marks awarded by the Council, can appear in the offline examination.
