Angul: Tension erupted in Odisha’s Talcher on Thursday after two groups clashed allegedly over non-payment of Durga puja bonus to contractual workers employed at an open cast project.
According to sources, the contractual workers were sitting on a protest over last few days demanding bonus. On Thursday night, a rival group confronted them to end the stir.
While one group demanded resumption of coal transportation the other opposed over payment of bonus. The deadlock continued till late last night but police refused to comment on the matter.
Angul police have deployed force in the area to avoid any untoward incident and the prevent the situation from escalating further, sources added.
