New Delhi: At a time when the nation is celebrating Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s 125th birth anniversary, firebrand politician Sakshi Maharaj alleged that the Congress party got Netaji killed.
“My allegation is that Congress got Subhas Chandra Bose killed… neither Mahatma Gandhi nor Pandit Nehru could stand in front of his popularity,” the BJP MP said in a public rally in Unnao.
“Subhas Chandra Bose played a major role in India’s freedom struggle. Why is his death still a mystery? Why did Pandit Nehru not conduct any inquiry? Truth about his death must come out,” demanded Sakshi Maharaj.
Netaji, one of the most influential leaders in India’s freedom movement, was allegedly killed in a plane crash in Taipei on August 18, 1945.
Many of his fellow freedom fighters from Azad Hind Fauj and several other historians and researchers didn’t subscribe to the plane crash theory.
However, the Central government confirmed in 2017, following a Right to Information application, that Netaji did die in the plane incident.
Some of the Netaji files were declassified, which revealed Jawaharlal Nehru had ordered Intelligence Bureau (IB) to keep members of Netaji’s family under close surveillance.
