Ahmedabad: The Odisha youngsters had a great opening day in the Cooch Behar (U-19)Trophy tie against Manipur at Narendra Modi Stadium Ground A, Motera.
After skittling out Manipur for a paltry 110 in 38.1 overs, Odisha reached 167 without loss at stumps on Saturday.
Skipper Aashirwad Swain and Dibyajyoti Pattanaik provided a dream start to help Odisha take a firm grip on the match. Aashirwad was unbeaten on 82 while Dibyajyoti will resume on 75 when play gets underway tomorrow.
Earlier, Manipur fell apart after a slow but steady start. Asked to bat first, Manipur collapsed from 54/1 to 110 all out. Ritesh Priyaranjan registered stunning figures of 6-3-9-4. Shresth Singh also bagged 4 wickets, while Sobhan Dev Behera claimed 2 scalps.
