Bhubaneswar: Five days after the triple train accident in Odisha’s Balasore district, the Coromandel Express will run from Shalimar station in West Bengal as per schedule from Wednesday.
Two major blocks in the upline and downline on Shalimar-Chennai route are under restoration. In the upline towards Bhubaneswar, 40 trains including 24 goods and 16 coach trains have started and on downline towards Howrah 49 trains including 16 goods and 23 coach trains have started, ANI quoted Aditya Kumar Chaudhary, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of South-Eastern Railway (SER) as saying.
He further said the Coromandel Express will leave Shalimar station as per schedule at 3.20 pm on Wednesday. On Tuesday, Chennai-Shalimar Coromandel Express started running.
It may be noted that Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express and a goods train were involved in a ghastly accident on June 2. It left 288 dead and over 1000 injured. Three coaches of Coromandel Express and two of Bengaluru-Howrah Express that collided into each other were among the worst hit and saw the maximum casualties.
