Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday began the counselling for the appointment of 596 doctors.
The counselling being conducted by the Health and Family Welfare department will continue for 10 days in which 113 specialist doctors and 483 MBBS doctors will be appointed.
Apart from this, 171 dentists will also be given appointment. The new recuits would be provided appointment letters soon after the counselling.
Besides, the efforts are on to appoint 2000 pass-out MBBS doctors according to the new cadre rules. The appointment will be made very soon, sources in the department said.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Medical Service Association (OMSA) has strongly protested against the new cadre rules for the doctors recently approved by the State Cabinet.
In a statement to the media, OMSA president Dr Nirakar Bhatt said that the doctors will face a lot of problems as the state government has framed the new cadre rules without consulting the Association. He has urged the Chief Minister to urgently intervene in the matter to redress the grievances of the doctors.
