Bhubaneswar: Counselling for 2,200 MBBS seats in the medical colleges in Odisha will be conducted from October 17, reports said on Monday.
Of the total number of seats, 1,700 are from 10 state government medical colleges together with two private medical colleges and 500 seats are of two deemed universities.
Admission to MBBS course will be held for the first time in two government medical colleges at Sundargarh and Keonjhar this year.
Counselling will be held by Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) authorities for 1,700 MBBS seats in the 10 government and two private medical colleges, while the two deemed universities have their own procedure for admission.
While the SCB Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) at Cuttack and MKCG MCH Berhampur have 250 MBBS seats each, Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Education and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla has 200 seats.
According to sources, the government medical colleges at Koraput and Baripada have 125 MBBS seats each, while the medical colleges at Balangir, Balasore, Puri, Sundargarh and Keonjhar have 100 seats each.
Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital at Bhubaneswar has 150 MBBS seats and Hi-Tech MCH at Rourkela has 100 seats.
Similarly, IMS and SUM Hospital and KIMS Bhubaneswar have 250 seats each.
While the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry will start the first round of admission from Tuesday for all-India quota, state counselling for the first round of admission in Odisha will be held from October 17 to 28.
The second round of state counselling will be conducted between November 7 and 18, while the mop-up round will start from December 6 and continue till December 12.
The academic session for UG courses will start from November 15, according to the MCC notification.
Students who have cleared NEET UG-2022 can take part in the counselling process.
