Bhubaneswar: More than three weeks after the brutal assault on Parvinder Pal Singh at Laxmi Sagar here, the accused on Thursday filed a counter case against him in the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court here.
They alleged that Singh had made casteist remarks against them.
The accused filed the counter during their appearance in the court.
On January 14, Singh was beaten black and blue when he reportedly asked two men to move their vehicle aside from the entrance of his apartment under Laxmi Sagar police limits.
The following day, police arrested Deepak Jena, the nephew of a former BJD corporator, and his associates Sankar Rout and Deepak Mohanty. However, they managed to secure bail within hours of their arrest.
On January 29, the businessman had moved the National and Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC), seeking slapping of serious charges against the accused.
