Couple Electrocuted To Death While Irrigating Paddy Field In Odisha’s Nuapada

Nuapada: In a tragic incident, a couple reportedly died of electrocution in Jonk area of Odisha’s Nuapada district on Tuesday.

The mishap took place at Parkod village under the jurisdiction of Jonk police station in the district. The deceased were identified as Rameshwar Rout and his wife Bimala Rout.

According to preliminary information, the two had barricaded their agriculture field with electric fence to prevent cattle and wild animals from entering the area and destroying crops.

However, when the two were working in the field on Tuesday, they accidentally came in contact with the live wire and got electrocuted.

The two were later found floating in the water-filled field by the villagers, who took them to the hospital. However, doctors declared both dead. On being informed, a team police personnel  visited the spot and initiated a probe into the incident.
