Paralakhemundi: In a tragic incident, a couple was found dead with their throats slit at a village in R Udayagiri area of Odisha’s Gajapati district.

Sources said the incident took place at Dunguru village located atop a hill under the jurisdiction of R Udayagiri police station in the district. The two were suspected to have been murdered on Tuesday night.

The deceased, identified as Chaitanya Mandal and his wife Ijamayi Mandal, were allegedly killed by unidentified miscreants while they were sleeping in their hut on the hilltop.

Locals said Chaitanya was a self-proclaimed healer who used to treat patients in the village. However, some villagers had suspicions about his practices, which might have led to the brutal murder.

On being informed, police personnel visited the spot and launched an investigation into the incident. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
