Bhubaneswar: Nonagenarian Baidyanath Parida and his 88-year-old wife Shakuntala were discharged from SUM COVID Hospital, where they were undergoing treatment for COVID-19, on Monday.
Residents of the city, they were admitted to the hospital on November 7 after testing positive for the virus.
Since the duo had hypertension and diabetes, it was a tricky situation for the medical team treating them. Both were also symptomatic and had fever and cough.
However, 96-year-old Parida and his wife responded well to the treatment and were fit to be discharged after ten days of care.
The couple expressed their gratefulness to the treating doctors and nurses while praising their sincere efforts.
Gandharba Charan Sahu (73), another COVID-infected senior citizen from Kendrapada was also discharged from the hospital the same day.
