Berhampur: A court has sentenced a senior doctor of Berhampur in Odisha’s Ganjam district to life imprisonment in a murder case.
As per the case, Dr Hrusikesh Tripathy of the city, who was the Medical Officer of the Chhatrapur Sub-Divisional Hospital in the district and Bishnu Prasad Gouda, an agent of HDFC Bank were in love with a nurse, who was working in a clinic owned by Tripathy.
After Dr Tripathy came to know about Gouda’s relation with the nurse, he wanted to eliminate him. In September, 2018, the doctor called the bank agent to his clinic and applied an injection to make him unconscious. Then he cut his body into pieces and dumped those in an isolated place.
On September 15, 2018, the body parts of the agent were found by some local people and the police launched investigation. Following investigation, the police had arrested Dr Tripathy and two others and filed the chargesheet.
After hearing the witnesses and verifying the evidence, the 1st Additional District Judge in Berhampur convicted Dr Tripathy and his two accomplices.
The court sentenced Dr Tripathy to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on him. The court also sentenced his two accomplices to two-year imprisonment.
