In this hour of crisis, 0ur favourite celebrities have stepped forward to help people and save lives, just like the superstars are seen doing in movies. Here’s a list of celebs who are doing everything they can to help the needy during these testing times:
1. Sonu Sood
Bollywood actor Sonu Sood turned into a ‘knight in shining armour’ for the helpless migrant labourers by arranging buses to ferry them home amid the nationwide lockdown.
The actor also donated over 1500 PPE kits for healthcare professionals in Punjab. He opened the doors of his Mumbai hotel to accommodate healthcare workers during the ongoing crisis.
2. Amitabh Bachchan
Following the example of Sonu Sood, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan arranged buses for migrant workers hailing from his home state Uttar Pradesh.
3. Salman Khan
B-town’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ Salman Khan is providing monetary help to nearly 25,000 daily wage workers of the film industry.
He donated ration to villages near his Panvel farmhouse and started the ‘Aan Daan’ campaign, urging people to provide food to the underprivileged.
He also launched ‘Being Haangryy’ trucks for supplying food to starving people during the lockdown.
4. Akshay Kumar
Besides donating a massive sum of Rs 25 crore towards PM-CARES fund, the ‘Khiladi’ actor Akshay Kumar recently donated Rs 45 lakh to CINTAA to help around 1500 struggling film artists.
5. Shah Rukh Khan
King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan has offered his four-storied office space to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to convert it to quarantine centre for children, women and elderly, affected by Covid-19.
6. Vikas Khanna
Michelin star chef Vikas Khanna has provided 50 tonnes of dry ration including rice, atta and dal to the needy in India. He has also donated sanitary pads to NGOs, orphanages, old-age homes, social service groups and individuals in 50 cities across India. The chef is providing food to street food vendors who are out of work during the lockdown.
7. Irfan and Yusuf Pathan
Former India cricketers Irfan and Yusuf Pathan have distributed around 4,000 masks to a neighbourhood in Vadodara, Gujarat.
They have also distributed 5,000 kg rice, 5,000 kg of potatoes, 700 kg of potatoes and 10,000 kg of grains to the needy in their neighbourhood.
8. Hrithik Roshan
B-town’s Greek God Hrithik Roshan is providing N95 and FFP3 protective masks for the workers of Bombay Municipal Corporation and other caretakers who are working everyday despite the coronavirus threat.
9. Athiya Shetty
Athiya Shetty, along with mom Mana Shetty, is reaching out to needy children through the ‘Save The Children India’ organization. The organization is supplying relief kits which include essential groceries, medicines, hearing aids etc.
10. Dutee Chand
Sprinter Dutee Chand distributed over 1000 food packets to the needy in her village Chaka Gopalpur and Jaipur.
11. Prakash Raj
Actor Prakash Raj provided food and shelter to 11 daily wage workers and their families from Puducherry and Chennai in his farmhouse near Hyderabad.
12. Rakul Preet Singh
Actress Rakul Preet Singh, with the help of her family members, is preparing meals for over 200 families in Gurugram during the lockdown. The food is being cooked in her apartment complex.
