Bhubaneswar: Odisha has witnessed a steep rise in COVID-19 cases with seven districts – Ganjam, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack – crossing the 50-mark this month.
The number of infected people in the state rose to 1438 on Monday with detection of 103 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. On the other hand, 550 patients have so far recovered from the infection.
Ganjam leads with 353 positive cases. With three deaths and 233 recoveries, the district now has 117 active cases.
Jajpur is second with 240 corona positive cases, among whom 90 have been fully cured. Balasore comes next with 133 cases and 57 recoveries.
Bhadrak has total 106 COVID-19 cases and 31 among them have recovered.
Khurda occupies the fifth slot with 82 cases. Among them, 51 patients have been fully cured. The virus has claimed three lives in this district.
Puri comes close next with 81 cases. Of them, four have already recovered from the infection.
Cuttack also saw a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases with the number totalling to 59. With one death and three recoveries, the district now has 55 active cases.
