‘COVID 3rd Wave In Odisha Likely Between October & November’

Bhubaneswar: If at all there will be third wave of COVID-19 in Odisha, it will be around October-November, said Additional Chief Secretary (Health) PK Mohapatra on Wednesday.

Addressing media persons he said the first wave peaked around September and the 2nd wave peak was around May-end and June 1st week. So, going by the scientific reasoning of around 7 to 8 months gap between the first two phases, the third phase might be a possibility between October and November, he said.

The state government is totally prepared for the 3rd wave, which experts say will affect children in the 0-18 years age group will be affected.

Informing about the steps taken by the state government he said the state has started training doctors in paediatric care and additional junior docs are also being readied for child care during COVID 3rd wave, he said.

Regarding equipment, he said the state has kept 3000 beds, including 610 ICU beds, ready for the purpose. Tenders for equipment as well as drugs have been placed those and those are likely to be available with the government by August 10, the ACS (Health) said.
