Bhubaneswar: In view of the renewed surge in COVID-19 cases, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will make it mandatory for travellers coming to the city to carry a negative RT-PCR test report not older than 72 hours.
“A guideline will be issued soon to ensure that the travellers coming to Bhubaneswar from other states with high COVID-19 caseload have to undergo mandatory testing or carry COVID-19 negative report with them,” BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary told the media on Friday.
Chaudhary informed that special surveillance and other enforcement activities are currently underway to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar.
“Being the capital city of Odisha, the movement of people from other districts as well as other states is high here. There are chances that COVID-19 cases will be on the high side. However, we are trying to follow all the guidelines issued by the state government as well as increase testing in the city,” he added.
BMC officials said special steps are being taken to carry out COVID-19 vaccination of people aged 45 and above from April 1.
