Bhubaneswar: Continuing its raids on different public places in the capital city to check violations of COVID guidelines, the enforcement squad of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday sealed different malls and a library and collected a total fine of 1.95 lakh.
This is apparently for the first time that a library in the city has been found blatantly violating the COVID-19 guidelines.
During a raid in Nayapalli area, the squad found more than 100 persons inside Brain Seed Library. The norms of social distancing were also not adhered to, said sources.
Earlier in the day, the squad found Vishal Mega Mart and Big Bazaar at Indradhanu Market open with several customers shopping in the malls.
Utkal Inn Bar and Restaurant at Lewis Road was also sealed by the BMC enforcement squad and Commissionerate Police for violation of COVID Guidelines.
It may be mentioned here that the state government has allowed all shops, except malls, spas and beauty parlours, to reopen in the 10 B-category districts, which includes Bhubaneswar, from Thursday.
