Berhampur: Ganjam district reported a record high of 283 fresh cases of COVID-19, including 49 corona warriors, on Friday. With the detection of the new cases, Ganjam’s COVID-19 tally has gone up to 1850.
Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange informed that of the 49 infected corona warriors, 14 were from Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) area, 13 from Bhanjanagar, 5 from Belaguntha, 4 each from Aska and Polasara, 2 from Sorada and one each from Buguda, Chhatrapur, Hinjilikatu, Kabisuryanagar, Purushottampur, Sanakhemundi and Sheragada.
Of the others, 10 cases were reported from Aska, 15 from Beguniapada, 21 from BeMC area, 12 from Bhanjanagar, 4 each from Chhatrapur and Chikiti, 5 each from Dharakote and Digapahandi, 9 from Hinjili, 16 from Kabisuryanagar, 10 from Khallikote, 13 from Kukudakhandi, 8 each from Polasara, Belaguntha and Purushottampur, 32 from Sanakhemundi, 20 from Sheragada, 7 from Sorada, 3 from Patrapur, 2 from Ganjam and one each from Buguda, Rangeilunda and Jagannathprasad.
The collector also said that 18 of these patients had returned to Odisha from Surat, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kerala, Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Bangalore, Chennai and Vishakhapatnam. Of those with travel history, 4 were residents of Purushottampur, 3 of Hinjili, two each of Buguda and Kabisuryanagar and one each of Aska, Dharakot, Digapahandi, Jagannathprasad, Polasara and Rangeilunda.
Kulange informed that all the positive cases were shifted to COVID hospitals.
Out of 1,850 total cases reported in Ganjam so far, 744 are active cases and 1090 have recovered while the district has reported 19 deaths.
