Bhubaneswar: With COVID-19 cases rising in Odisha, state School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Tuesday said that vaccination of students in the 12-17 age group will be accelerated.
The Health Department had written to the School and Mass Education Department in this regard recently. “Our department will cooperate with the Health Department in accelerating the vaccination drive among school and college students,” Dash said.
In its letter, the Health Department had urged the School and Mass Education Department to direct DEOs to identify students in schools and colleges who are yet to receive their first dose and those due for second dose.
Odisha on Tuesday registered a sharp spike in daily COVID caseload as 113 people were found infected in the last 24 hours, the highest in almost two months.
The state had reported 69 cases the previous day.
