Bhubaneswar: With Odisha seeing an alarming surge in COVID-19 cases, 26 districts are now tagged as red zone (having more than 1000 actives cases).
According to the Health and Family Welfare Department, the active cases in Odisha rose to 94,760 on Monday. Of these, 94 per cent (89,091) cases are in the red zone districts.
Of the districts tagged as red zone, Khurda has the highest of 14,529 active cases. The other 25 districts more than 1000 actives cases are Angul (4,128), Balasore (2,182), Bargarh (4,539), Bhadrak (1,801), Balangir (2,718), Boudh (1,790), Cuttack (7,704), Dhenkanal (1,207), Ganjam (1,873), Jagatsinghpur (1,296), Jajpur (2,703), Jharsuguda (3,135), Kalahandi (3,895), Kendrapada (1169), Keonjhar (1,082), Koraput (1,262), Mayurbhanj (1,872), Nabarangpur (3,124), Nayagarh (2,201), Nuapada (2,380), Puri (3,957), Rayagada (1,307), Sambalpur (4,712), Sonepur (1,386) and Sundargarh (11,139).
A zone is categorized as red if the districts with the highest caseload contribute to more than 80 per cent of coronavirus cases for each state or the districts with a doubling rate of less than four days.
