Mumbai: For the first time, Team India are No. 1 in the International Cricket Council (ICC) team rankings in all three formats.
Rohit Sharma’s men had already attained the top rank in ODIs and T20 Internationals. Now, they have climbed to No. 1 in Tests also following their crushing innings-and-132-run win in the first Test against Australia at Nagpur.
India, who displaced Australia from the summit, have 115 rating points. India will have to win the second Test, starting at Delhi’s Ferozeshah Kotla on February 17, to maintain their No. 1 position.
Team India would have climbed atop the Test rankings earlier, had they lost the series in South Africa after leading 1-0 last year. They also lost the rescheduled final Test against England in July 2022.
India have the chance to qualify for the World Test Championship final if they can beat Australia 3-1.
India and Australia are followed by England and reigning World Test champions New Zealand in the Test rankings.
In ODIs, moved up to No. 1 following their 3-0 sweep over New Zealand at home earlier this year.
As for T20Is, the men in blue reached the top of rankings last year, and held on to their spot despite losing to England in the World Cup Down Under.
