Bhubaneswar: Unidentified criminals on Sunday vandalised six cars in Sailashree Vihar, raising fears about safety and security in the locality.
Residents woke up in the morning to find windshields of their cars smashed and window panes broken. “I fail to understand the motive behind targeting my vehicle,” said Swastik Chowdhry, a software engineer, who has lodged an FIR with the Chandrasekharpur police station.
Vehicles were attacked across lanes and alleys, indicating random selection of four-wheelers.
Residents claimed there had been a similar incident in their locality some months ago too. Law enforcement agencies had failed to act against the criminals at that time.
Targeting four-wheelers is, however, not new to the city.
As early as last month, unidentified criminals had vandalised 17 cars parked near Eshaneswar temple at Prachi Vihar in Palasuni area under Mancheswar police station limits. Investigations are still on. The Patia locality has also been witness to scores of such incidents in the recent past.
