Bhubaneswar: Deputy manager of Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (OPHWC), Pratap Samal was arrested by Vigilance on Wednesday on charges of amassing disproportionate assets. Assets and property to the tune of Rs 14.87 crore belonging to Samal have been detected.
The disproportionate assets unearthed come to 1021% of the known sources of income, stated the Vigilance in a release. After arrest, Bhubaneswar Vigilance will forward him to the court of Special Judge, Vigilance, here.
The vigilance also registered case under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)b /12 PC Act 1988, as amended by PC (Amendment) Act 2018, against Pratap and his wife Sasmita.
Samal and his wife were found in possession of huge disproportionate assets which they could not explain satisfactorily, the Vigilance stated.
