Phulbani: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at Baliguda town in Odisha’s Kandhamal district.
The deceased has been identified as Ramesh, who hailed from Kattakada in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala.
Sources said the jawan took an extreme step by hanging himself inside a toilet in the camp. A towel was seen tied around his neck when he was found hanging.
Ramesh was reportedly posted at the 127 Battalion of the CRPF in Baliguda. His colleagues spotted him hanging with a cloth this morning. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
The reason behind the move is yet to be ascertained. After post-mortem his body will be sent to his home town Kattakada in Kerala.
Baliguda police have registered a case of unnatural death (U/d) and initiated a probe into the death.
