Bhubaneswar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a hotel room at Ashok Nagar in Odisha capital on Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Mir Singh (42), a native of Rajasthan. He was a jawan of Jharkhand CRPF 214 Battalion and had arrived in Bhubaneswar on Republic Day.
According to sources, the hotel staff found the CRPF jawan hanging from the ceiling fan of the room and informed police, which then recovered the body and sent it for postmortem.
“The jawan had checked in at around 4.30 pm on January 26. One of my staff found the door of his room open and saw him hanging from the ceiling fan. He was earlier heard talking loudly to someone over phone,” manager of the hotel told the media.
Senior officers of Capital police station have reached the hotel and started an investigation into the circumstances leading to his death. While hotel staff are being questioned in connection with the incident, a team of forensic experts has also reached the spot.
Police said that Singh was on leave since January 20 and his family has been informed about the incident.
