Bhubaneswar: Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has announced a unique competition for designing Bus Queue Shelters (BQS) and Bus Poles.
Open to Indian residents aged between 18 and 40 years, CRUT seeks proposals for compact designs that incorporate local climatic conditions, have curb access, integrate smart technology, and are sustainable and universally accessible.
The competition, announced on the occasion of Utkal Diwas, also mandates designs to provide value-added services and suggest innovative ways to generate non-fare box revenue through these structures.
Participants can submit their proposals as individual or as a team through Google Form. The deadline for submitting proposals is 11.59 pm, April 14.
Shortlisted participants, who will be informed on April 17, have to present their proposals through an online Power Point presentation on April 25.
The winners will be announced on April 29.
The top three entries will receive cash prizes — Rs 10,000 for the winner, Rs 7,000 for first runner-up and Rs 5,000 for second runner-up — and a Certificate of Appreciation.
The top three will be felicitated on May 4, on CRUT’s 5th Foundation Day.
All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.
Entries can be submitted by clicking on the link — https://capitalregiontransport.in/competition.
CRUT MD Vijay Amruta Kulange reiterated the need for construction of bus poles and more bus queue shelters across the Mo Bus operational area.
CRUT GM Dipti Mahapatro stated that the competition is open to all to encourage the public to participate in CRUT’s infrastructural expansion by sharing their ideas.
CRUT, a Special Purpose Vehicle of Odisha government’s Housing & Urban Development Department, has designed the competition to provide citizens, especially young minds, with an opportunity to contribute towards development of public transport infrastructure in cities where Mo Bus is operational.
