Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy, Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena and senior bureaucrats held a review meeting at state emergency office on the situation in the wake of cyclone Amphan late in the night on Tuesday.
The top officers of State Government took stock of preparedness in the vulnerable districts. The officials said over 90,000 people have been evacuated to safe places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapra and Jagatsinghpur districts where the Amphan is likely to have the most effect.
Meanwhile, the States Government has asked Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and commercial banks to ensure adequate availability of cash in view of the people’s needs before the cyclone and afterwards. The government also told the banks to keep their branches, ATMs and CSPs running for the customers’ convenience.
Besides, the banks were told to be prepared with backup for power supply like generators and internet servers.
