Cyclone Gulab: Ganjam Collector Requests People To Be Alert, Stay Indoors

Bhubaneswar: Cyclone Gulab, which is likely to cross north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts by the September 26 is likely to have an impact on Ganjam and Gajapati districts.

The district administrations have started taking all precautions for the safety of people.

Supervising the disaster preparedness, Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange said people from the vulnerable areas are being shifted and supply of drinking water besides other necessary arrangements are being made.

In keeping with the prediction of heavy rainfall as predicted by the IMD and as per the instructions of the Special Relief Commissioner, said the beaches in the district will be closed for two days, Sunday and Monday. “A wind speed of 90 kmph is also dangerous following which we have requested people to stay indoors and urged media personnel to ensure safety while reporting,” said Kulange.

The Gajapati district administration has also braced up and started taking all the measures to prevent loss of life and property during Cyclone Gulab.

Gajapati Collector Lingaraj Panda has cancelled the leave of all government employees and officers for two days on September 25 and 26 and asked them to stay in their respective headquarters.
