Cyclone Yaas Aftermath: Heavy Rainfall Warning For 5 Odisha Districts

Bhubaneswar: The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal weakened into a depression in Jharkhand and moved nearly northwards with a speed of about 9 kmph during past 6 hours.

It now lay centred at 113.0 hours over central parts of Jharkhand about and 20 km east of Ranchi (Jharkhand) and 95 km southwest of Jamshedpur.

The system is very likely to move nearly northwards and weaken into a well marked low pressure area during next 12 hours.

Under its impact light to moderate rain or thundershower are very likely to occur at many places in the districts of north interior Odisha, at a few places over the districts of north coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of south Odisha.

A yellow warning (heavy rainfall) has been issued for the districts of  Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur.

Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is likely to prevail over Jharkhand and adjoining areas of Odisha during the next 12 hours and decrease gradually thereafter, stated the IMD mid-day bulletin.

With the weather still remaining rough, the fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast and north Bay of Bengal in the next 12 hours.
