Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID-19 caseload in the capital city, which remained below 200 for five days in a row, surged past the mark on Wednesday as 209 persons tested positive for the disease in the last 24 hours.
The city had reported 194 positive cases on Tuesday, 144 on Monday, 158 on Sunday, 141 on Saturday and 191 on Friday.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 54 of the new patients on the day are from quarantine and 155 local contacts.
As many as 155 patients recovered from the disease while the number of deceased due to COVID remained at 1,044 with no deaths reported during the period.
The active cases stood at 3,558 while total 1,16,456 people have been infected by the virus so far.
