Boudh: Milk farmers staged a protest on National Highway-57 at Jahnapanka in Boudh district over non-procurement of the produce by OMFED.
Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) used to procure milk from farmers under the Charishambhu Milk Cooperative Society, Jahnapanka.
The farmers selling milk to a private agency as OMFED held up payment to them for 360 litres of milk. The Samiti members met Boudh district Collector and CDVO and urged them to ask OMFED to restart buying milk from them within 15 days. The Collector had assured to look into the matter.
On the other hand, on learning about the meeting, the private agency refused to take milk from them. With no option left, Samiti members poured cans of milk on the road on Sunday.
They have again appealed the district collector to facilitate procurement of milk by OMFED.
