New Delhi: Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, 85, received a shot of COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday at a zonal hospital in Dharamshala.
The exiled leader stepped out of his home after a year.
Officials had offered to vaccinate the spiritual leader and his core staff at his residence, but the Dalai Lama said he would like to take the vaccine where the common people got it.
Dalai Lama’s followers reportedly lined up on the streets to catch a glimpse of the spiritual leader.
After being administered the vaccine, he urged people to get vaccinated in a video message. “This injection is very helpful. Others should also take it for greater benefit,” he said, adding, “I took it, and more people should have the courage to take the injection, too.”
