Rourkela: Even as police claimed that ASI Alisa Narmi Lugun died due to excited delirium in in Odisha’s Rourkela city on October 1, her family members rejected it and demanded CBI probe into her death.

Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, Alisa’s husband Sanjay Lakra said the report of post-mortem conducted on her was erroneous. The finding of the post-mortem that the death of Alisa was caused by a condition called excited delirium is misleading, he added.

“Excited delirium is normally detected in people having acute drug intoxication at the time of the incident. But Alisa was neither a drug addict nor had any major health complications,” he said.

He also pointed out that while the post-mortem report mentioned about swelling in her right cheek and a blood clot on her body, it did not mention anything regarding the causes behind the symptoms. “Moreover, excited delirium or agitated delirium or hyperactive delirium is not recognised as a major health complication by the WHO and other reputed agencies,” he added.

Stating that they were not happy with the police investigation, Lakra said, ““We reject the findings of the post-mortem report and demand a CBI probe into the incident. We will continue our fight to seek justice to Alisa.”

He also said they have sent a letter to Rourkela SP posing 10 questions on the findings of the police investigation and post-mortem report.

It may be noted that Alisha, who was posted at Uditnagar police station in Rourkela, died under mysterious circumstances while on duty at a road accident site.

She had gone to an accident spot when she felt uneasy and was rushed to the hospital. However, doctors declared her dead upon arrival. The sudden death of a hefty and healthy police officer had raised serious questions.
