Bengaluru: Even as exit polls are underway after the conclusion of seventh and final phase of Lok Sabha polls, there was news of a court summons for Rahul Gandhi.

A Bengaluru court on Saturday ordered the Congress leader to appear before it on June 7 in a defamation case filed by a BJP leader.

The complaint, filed by BJP MLC and Karnataka general secretary Keshav Prasad, was over the ‘40 per cent commission’ allegation Congress levelled against BJP during the state assembly elections a year ago.

In the run-in to the assembly polls, Congress had alleged that the previous BJP government charged a 40 per cent commission in the state for execution of all public works. A ‘corruption rate card’ was also published by Congress to establish its point.

Apart from Rahul, the defamation case was also filed against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and deputy CM DK Shivakumar, both of whom appeared before the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in person on Saturday, and were granted bail in the case.
