Lucknow: In a chilling reminder of a woman being killed after she was dragged by a car in the early hours of January 1, 2023, a family of four lost their lives in similarly tragic circumstances.
A couple and their two children were travelling in a Scooty here on Tuesday night when an SUV hit the two-wheeler and dragged it for over 100 metres.
It was such a violent crash that the Scooty got stuck with all four people under the Scorpio. The car continued to move for about 100 metres before hitting a tree and coming to a halt.
People in the vicinity rushed to the spot and managed to pull the victims out.
They were taken to the nearest hospital, but were declared brought dead by doctors.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Zone) Kasim Abdi,
Police identified the Scooty driver as 35-year-old Ram Singh, a resident of Sitapur, based on the Scooty’s registration number.
Details about his wife and two children were not immediately available.
Five months ago, a 20-year-old woman travelling in a Scooty got entangled in the undercarriage of a car, which the occupants claimed they had not noticed. She was dragged for about several kilometres before police found her body around 4.30 am.
