New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s personal assistant (PA) Bibhav Kumar was on Thursday summoned by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.
Kumar appeared before ED officials and his statements are being recorded under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), PTI reported.
ED’s move comes three weeks after it filed a chargesheet in the case in which Kejriwal’s name is mentioned.
As per the supplementary chargesheet, ED has accused Kejriwal of conniving with the accused in the case, claiming that Vijay Nair — who allegedly worked as a link with businessmen — was introduced to them by the CM as “my boy”.
ED has also claimed that liquor businessman Sameer Mahendru, a prime accused in the alleged scam, spoke with Kejriwal over a video call, with the CM asking the former to trust AAP’s communication in-charge Nair.
Kejriwal’s PA and 35 other accused, including Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, have allegedly “destroyed or used” 170 phones to conceal evidence of “kickbacks” worth thousands of crores of rupees in the alleged scam.
ED has so far filed two chargesheets and arrested 9 people in the liquor case.
