Bhubaneswar: The death toll due to dengue rose to four in the state with one more person succumbing to the vector-borne disease in Cuttack on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Sanatan Nayak, a resident of Tangarapada village in Keonjhar district. He was undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and died around 2:30am last night.
According to reports, Nayak was admitted to the hospital 20 days ago. He was shifted to the ICU of the hospital on August 12 following deterioration in his condition.
On Friday, a woman identified as CH Parbati, a native of Jhatipadar village under Tikiti block in Ganjam district, had died of the vector-borne disease while undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
Another person identified as Harihar Mallick of Basudevpur area in Bhadrak district had died of dengue at the SCB on August 13.
The season’s first dengue death was reported on August 9, when a patient undergoing treatment at the ICU of the SCB succumbed. He was identified as Som Prakash Mishra (35), a resident of Chhapra district in Bihar.
