Kalahandi: Panic gripped Kalahandi district after 18 persons tested positive for dengue at Ladugaon village under Koksara block on Sunday.
According to sources, a total of 94 blood samples were collected from Ladugaon village. The affected persons are undergoing treatment at the local hospital.
In the first phase, six of 11 samples tested positive for the vector-borne disease.
A total of 24 persons have been affected so far. While some have been admitted to Bhawanipatna district headquarters hospital (DHH), others are undergoing treatment in Raipur, Visakhapatna, Hyderabad and Chhattisgarh.
Meanwhile, blood samples of 30 more people have been sent for tests.
“A team of doctors are constantly monitoring the situation in the village. Health workers have also started door-to-door campaign for creating awareness to prevent further spread of dengue,” said Kalahandi CDMO Saroj Tihadi.
