Bhubaneswar: With cold wave conditions showing signs of abatement across Odisha, dense to very dense fog enveloped several parts of the state on Tuesday morning, disrupting normal life amid reduced visibility.

As per the Meteorolgical Centre in Bhubaneswar, Dhenkanal and Talcher experienced very dense fog in the last 24 hours. While visibility level was as low as 30 metre in Dhenkanal, it was around 40 metre in the coal town of Talcher.

Similarly, dense fog was experienced in places like Sonepur, Phulbani, Koraput, Khurda (all 50 metre visibility level), Cuttack (80 metre), Angul (100 metre), and Kendrapada (150 metre), the MeT Centre said.

Moderate fog was experienced in Nabarangpur, Jagatsinghpur, Bhawanipatna and Paradip where visibility level ranged between 200 and 400 metres.

Places like Titlagarh, Rourkela, Keonjhar, Bhubaneswar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Hirakud experienced light fog with visibility level ranging from 500 to 800 metres.

Normal life was thrown out of gear in several parts of the state due to foggy conditions, which substantially reduced visibility level. Vehicular movement was disrupted in most parts of the state, sources said.

Koraput remained the coldest place in the state recording a minimum (night) temperature of 7.6 degree Celsius, followed by Daringbadi (9 degree), G Udaygiri (9.2 degree) and Phulbani (10 degree Celsius). At least 10 places recorded temperature below 12 degree Celsius in the last 24 hours during the period.

The MeT Centre has already issued yellow warning about dense fog in many parts of the state for three days.
