Bhubaneswar: The regional meteorological centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Saturday predicted heavy rainfall in south and coastal Odisha in the next 48 hours.
Under the influence of a depression formed over north-west Bay of Bengal, most parts of the state including districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Puri are likely to witness heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours, the Met bulletin said.
The intensity of rainfall is expected to increase from Sunday, the weatherman said.
Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea as strong winds are likely to prevail along and off Odisha coast during this period.
Several parts of the state are already witnessing light to moderate rainfall in the last 12 hours.
