Bhubaneswar: The depression has weakened into a well-marked low-pressure area over Chhattisgarh and adjoining east Madhya Pradesh at 5.30 am, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre informed on Wednesday.
It is likely to move west-northwestwards and gradually weaken into a low-pressure area during the next 24 hours, it added.
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is likely at isolated places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bargarh districts till 8.30 am on Thursday. Yellow warning for heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) has also been sounded for isolated places in Nuapada, Sonepur, Balangir, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Jagatsinghpur.
The Met office had also issued a nowcast warning for light to moderate rain with one or two intense spells in some parts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), and Nayagarh till 10.15 am. Thundershowers also likely in some parts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Dound, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Gajapati.
While yellow warning continues till 8.30 am on August 13, the MeT office has warned about squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph over north-west adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal along and off Odisha till August 11.
