Designer Sabyasachi Served Legal Notice For Using ‘Semi-Naked Models’ In Ad Campaign

Mumbai: Eminent designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee been served a legal notice for the campaign on his newly-launched mangalsutra collection.

The notice has been issued by advocate Ashutosh Dubey.

The designer had shared a couple of photos online from an official shoot featuring ‘semi-naked’ models wearing a mangalsutra with a plunging neckline.

Netizens didn’t like the pictures, and the designer was brutally trolled on Instagram.

“I have issued a Legal notice to Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Indian fashion designer, regarding using semi-naked models for a Mangalsutra collection advertisement as Mangalsutra is part of Holy Hindu Marriage. He outraged the holy Hindu Marriage (Mangalsutra),” Advocate Dubey tweeted.

The designer was slammed for using models wearing bras to promote the mangalsutra.

The collection was launched only recently on Instagram with a caption that read:

“Sabyasachi launches Intimate Fine Jewellery @sabyasachijewelry Introducing the Royal Bengal Mangalsutra 1.2 and the Bengal Tiger Icon collection of necklaces, earrings and signet rings in 18k gold with VVS diamonds, black onyx and black enamel,” read a caption on Instagram, announcing the new collection.

Sabyasachi is favourite of several Bollywood stars. He has worked with the likes of Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.
