Chennai: For the first time since announcing their separation, celebrity couple Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth attended a hearing at the family court in Chennai on Thursday.

They were seen wearing masks as they appeared in the court to express their intention to go separate ways in court. The judge, hearing their divorce proceedings, has posted the next hearing for November 27, when the final verdict is likely to be pronounced, according to Hindustan Times.

On January 17, 2022, the couple had announced their separation on social media platform. “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate,” wrote Dhanush on X.

Aishwaryaa too shared a similar statement on her social media handle.

After filing for divorce by mutual consent in April 2024, there were rumours about possible reconciliation because of Aishwaryaa’s father Rajinikanth’s intervention. Aishwarya posts celebrating Onam and Dhanush’s interactions too fuelled discussions of reunion among fans in September.

Dhanush and Aishwaryaa tied the knot in 2004. They are parents to two sons – Linga and Yatra. The couple have been co-parenting while living separately since announcing their separation.

Dhanush was recently in news for slapping a Rs 10 crore legal notice to actress Nayanthara for using a 3-second video clip from the movie ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ in her documentary titled, ‘Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale.’
