Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan slammed the Odisha government and the State Election Commission (SEC) on Tuesday. According to him, gross errors in the voters’ list have deprived large numbers of people of their Constitutional right to vote.
Raising serious concern about the irregularities in the voters’ list, the Union Minister said in a series of tweets that reports from various parts of the state showed many voters have failed to exercise their franchise as their names were not on the list.
“It is a matter of great concern and regret that we have not been able to properly compile our voters’ list even after 75 years of Independence,” said the Union Minister.
Pradhan’s statement came following reports of widespread errors in the voters’ list. The errors were reported from almost all districts during the rural polls’ second, third and fourth phases.
