Mumbai: Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to pay tribute to just-retired former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and retire No.7 jersey from Team India’s white-ball cricket. Karthik took to social media to congratulate the ‘Captain Cool’ on an illustrious career.
Dhoni had retired from all forms of international cricket on Saturday, August 15, putting all speculation to rest since India’s ICC cricket World Cup exit last year.
“Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout.from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired,” Dhoni shared the news of his hanging up boots through an Instagram post on Saturday evening.
Thirty-nine-year-old Dhoni, who is regarded as the most successful Indian captain ever on statistics, donned the number 7 jersey throughout his international career spanning 15 years.
“This is the last photo taken after our semis at the World Cup.lots of great memories through this journey. I hope the @bcci retire the #7 jersey in white-ball cricket Red heart Good luck with your second innings in life, I’m sure you’ll have a lot of surprises for us there too,” Karthik wrote on Twitter.
