Berhampur: In a tragic turn of Diwali celebration for a family, an old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his son in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Monday.
According to sources, the incident took place in Padhal village under Aska police station in the district. While the entire village was celebrating Diwali at night, one Arun Nahak had a quarrel with his father Debaraj Nahak over some issues.
As the quarrel escalated, both Arun and Debaraj come out to the village street and a heated exchange of words ensued between them. In a fit of rage, Arun stabbed his father with a knife. As heavily bleeding Debaraj fell down, Arun fled.
Debaraj’s family rushed him to sub-divisional hospital at Aska. But Debaraj, who had sustained critical injuries, succumbed there.
A team from Aska police station along with a forensic team went to the village on Tuesday and started investigation, said IIC Prashant Kumar Sahu. Further investigation is on and a manhunt has been launched to trace Arun, he added.
