Bhubaneswar: As a Diwali gift, chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced 25% hike in remuneration for the outsourced and contractual employees engaged by the state government.
The chief minister’s incentive will benefit around 33,000 employees and cost Rs 100 crore for the state exchequer annually. Besides the hike in remuneration, he has told the parent organisations of these employees to allow them to avail leave for 12 days in a year.
Naveen has also directed to take stern action against the organisations which do not contribute their share of the provident fund of the employees.
Since the maternity leave for pregnant women among such employees remains unresolved, the chief minister has advised the authorities to take a decision in this regard soon.
