Bhubaneswar: Odisha-cadre IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, who is serving as ADG (Prisons), on Tuesday reported about a fake account created in his name on Instagram.
“This is a fake account. This person is pretending to be me. I have reported the account. Please don’t entertain any requests,” he posted on X.
The fraudster allegedly attempted to swindle people by posing as the officer, using the account where several of his pictures have been uploaded. Thakur has shared a screenshot of a conversation through messages, seeking financial help.
According to reports, the 1998-batch officer has also lodged a complaint in this regard with the Crime Branch and Bhubaneswar DCP.
